It will even park your car for you! Okay, maybe that's too far but it gives me clear answers to any codes that come up and really alot of detail. Well built and worth every penny.

This is a far better than average home mechanic code reader/diagnostic tool. It has a very large display, it’s reasonably easy to learn how to use, it’s constructed well, and it runs a surprising number of tests. Additionally, I really like how easy it is to update the software. This is well-designed, and competent diagnostic tool. I’ve tested several diagnostic scanners over the past few years, and this one is one of the better ones I’ve tried.

Now, I’m sure you noticed I said this is a tool for a home mechanic, however, it could easily be a very useful tool for a professional mechanic too. It’s just that any professional mechanic with a successful shop would already have a much more elaborate/expensive scanner/tester that would cost a bare minimum 2500 dollars.

Now, I’ve used this scanner a couple of times so far, and it quickly and clearly pinpoints issues. With the information from this diagnostic tool I am able to perform most repairs myself for a tiny fraction of the cost of taking my cars to a professional mechanic or back to the dealer.

I think that for 90% of home mechanics, this is quite likely to be the only scanner/diagnostic tool you will ever need. The only other diagnostic tool I have in addition to a diagnostic scanner is a comprehensive (and fairly expensive) 6v/12v battery tester. Consequently, for the most part, I think I’m good to go for diagnosing any automotive problems that come my way.

If you have any questions about this Otofix D1 automotive scanner/diagnostic tool, please feel free to ask, and I'll try my best to answer. I hope you found this review helpful.
